Puma Property Finance is shortlisted for ‘Investor of the Year’

Puma Property Finance is delighted to have been shortlisted for ‘Investor of the Year’ in Property Week’s Student Accommodation Awards.

These prestigious awards recognise and reward the achievements of the purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) sector and come after a consistently active year of lending for Puma Property Finance. During this time, the business reached a milestone of over £700m of loans and construction projects, importantly, with 0% capital losses to date.

Over the past 18 months, we have continued to lend on student accommodation projects across the UK and closed several new transactions. This includes a four-storey new build that will provide 71 student beds and the first private scheme within walking distance of both the University of Sussex and University of Brighton’s Falmer campuses. We also executed two substantial new facilities to finance a 252-bed development near Colchester town centre for students at the University of Essex, as well as a 131-bed development adjacent to the campus of Leicester’s De Montfort University. In addition, we completed a facility to fund the ground-up development of a 204-bed scheme in Portswood, Southampton.

In our current environment, mainstream lenders have substantially withdrawn from the development finance market, even for highly experienced developers. In light of this, we are proud to be able to continue our role as an alternative source of capital crucial to the growth of the sector. Aided by our multi-disciplinary team of over 20 professionals, we are pleased to say our student accommodation developments remain on track to deliver new schemes to the sector.

Thank you to Property Week for this recognition of our track record in supporting the UK’s PBSA sector. We congratulate all those shortlisted and look forward to the ceremony on 9th December.
